This project examines Karaköy, a historically significant area in Istanbul's Beyoglu district, located at the northern mouth of the Golden Horn. Known as Galata in antiquity, it was a 19th-century hub for banks and insurance companies and is now a vibrant commercial quarter housing suppliers of mechanical and electronic parts. The study aims to analyze Karaköy’s urban challenges, evaluate its architectural significance, and propose solutions to enhance its potential. By conducting site visits, observations, and analyses, the project identifies deficiencies and offers strategies to address the area’s urban and architectural needs while respecting its historical and commercial importance.
